REMAX SA Donates R25,000 towards Western Cape Fire Relief Efforts

In response to the devastating wildfires that recently swept across the Western Cape, the RE/MAX Foundation has made a R25 000 donation to assist with critical relief efforts. The funds have been split equally between the Cape of Good Hope SPCA and Volunteer Wildfire Services (VWS), with each organization receiving R12 500 to support their emergency operations.

As the fires tore through large swathes of the province—including the Tokai, Simon’s Town, and Newlands areas—these frontline organizations worked tirelessly to protect both people and animals from the blaze. The Cape of Good Hope SPCA has been actively involved in search and rescue operations, treating and rehabilitating wildlife injured by the fires, while VWS has been on the ground, deploying its volunteer firefighters across the affected regions.

“Our hearts go out to the communities and natural habitats affected by the fires,” says Regional Director and CEO of RE/MAX of Southern Africa, Adrian Goslett. “A huge thanks to everyone in our network who contributed towards our donation. It is incredible to see even those who are in other regions give generously to support this cause.”

“We are grateful to both the SPCA and VWS for their heroic efforts in the wake of this disaster. These funds are a small token of our appreciation for the work they do in protecting our environment, our animals, and our people,” says Goslett.

After receiving the donation, the Volunteer Wildfire Services expressed their gratitude with a heartfelt message to the RE/MAX team and broader public:

“Fighting wildfires is strenuous, dangerous, and demanding work. As a volunteer-run organization, we rely heavily on the goodwill of the public and individuals like you to keep our operations running. Your contribution directly helps sustain our Newlands, South Peninsula, Stellenbosch, and Helderberg bases, maintain and refuel our vehicles, feed our firefighters, provide winter training, and purchase essential equipment. Thanks to your generosity, our teams can carry out their duties well-fed, properly equipped, and—perhaps most importantly—motivated by the knowledge that their work is valued and supported. Thank you again for your support—you are the real heroes.” – The VWS Board

RE/MAX of Southern Africa encourages all South Africans to support relief organizations in their efforts to safeguard our communities and wildlife. Every donation, no matter the size, can make a real difference in times of crisis. If you are unsure where to donate, select the RE/MAX Foundation who will distribute it to a worthy organisation or cause.
