One of the best kept secrets in the Fouriesburg area is Destiny Castle – located close to town. The castle is situated right at the top of the mountain and will offer you a 360-degree view of the Witteberg mountains and nearby Lesotho. There are many stories surrounding the castle and its origins. One being that the castle was originally built by a Chinese emperor.

As a child, I regularly found myself admiring the craftsmanship of the castle as it sat on top of the hill. There are various ways to reach this majestic wonder. There is a four-by-four (4x4) route that will lead you directly to the entrance of the caste. If you prefer air-travel, the castle has its own airstrip that is approximately 800 metres in length (the airstrip is suitable for helicopters). If you would rather prefer a thorough tour of the property, the Union House can provide you with various tour options – there is a guest house located on the property if you want to extend your visit.

The castle consists of:

A Chapel which provides you with plenty of room for guests – perfect for any celebration.

Five modern bedrooms, each with its own on-suite bathroom and classic finishes.

Spacious living areas along with a private cinema.

A patio with a 360-degree view to watch over the open areas towards Caledon River.

A spacious dining area that is situated close to the castle’s well-equipped kitchen.

Other building situated on the property:

The staff house is located near the airstrip and consists of four on-suite bedrooms, a living area, as well as a one bedroom flat. The staff house can be used for staff or any other occasion that might arise. The property also offers undercover parking for up to six vehicles.

The Union House (1870). Furnished in antique relics dating back to the Boer War.

The farm (Bestersvallei – 761 hectare) has a fully functioning working area in which it grows mealies and wheat for the livestock that is situated on the land.

The majority of the castle is built out of Sandstone that was layered by hand.

There are plenty of natural water holes and spring water fountains that are situated in various different locations.

Eskom electricity is provided across the entire property.

The property is fitted with generators to assist in times of power loss.
