PROPERTY GIANT TURNS PINK TO RAISE AWARENESS

As prevalent as breast cancer is among South African women, most still fail to go for regular mammograms and perform self-examinations to check for lumps or irregularities hiding beneath the breast tissue. Breast cancer is almost always curable if detected early, which is why the National Breast Cancer Awareness month exists to spread awareness around early detection and cure.

“Many of our sales associates have battled through this disease, which makes this a cause that hits very close to home for us. In an effort to raise awareness around the early detection and prevention of breast cancer, RE/MAX will hold our annual National Pink Day on 29 October whereby our network of over 2,800 agents across Southern Africa are invited to dress in pink for the day and host events to raise money towards various Breast Cancer related causes across the country. Our associates are also encouraged to take photos on the day and post them to social media using the hashtags #REMAXPinkDay #GetChecked,” explains Adrian Goslett, Regional Director and CEO of RE/MAX of Southern Africa.

For the month of October, The RE/MAX Foundation will also be collecting donations on behalf of the Breast Care Foundation. Their mission is to provide help and inspire hope to those affected by breast cancer and to assist with early detection. They provide support services to those with disabilities, are destitute and/or are pensioners with low-income range, with food parcels, clothing, and medical assistance which includes mammograms.

The RE/MAX Foundation welcomes donations for this cause via EFT or Snapscan: Bank Standard Bank Branch Blue Route 025609 Account no 282 252 010 Ref BCA Oct

“Our sympathies lie with anyone struggling with this disease. Our hope is that through these campaigns, we might be able to affect positive change and help the many other organisations who are working together to change behaviour and minimise the occurrence of late diagnosis,” Goslett concludes.
