GREEN POINT
Green Point could quite simply be described as “buzzing” or “cooking”. An old established and very cosmopolitan part of Cape Town’s Atlantic Seaboard, Green Point now boasts the architecturally stunning Cape Town Stadium, which played host to no fewer than eight World Cup football matches, including a semi-final.
The fact that the world’s attention was focused on SA during the 2010 FIFA World Cup and in this particular instance, Cape Town, meant that Green Point, which was the centre of everything World Cup when it came to the Mother City. And for this reason, Green Point underwent a makeover of epic proportions.
Despite the undoubted inconveniences and frustrations endured by Green Pointers, the result was worth all the effort. Green Point is now a bustling, busy and extremely attractive option for developers and investors. Its proximity to the V & A Waterfront, as well as to Sea Point and the Cape Town CBD make Green Point – a cosmopolitan metropolis at the best of times – a must-be-seen-at place by the international jet set.
Green Point is now at the epicenter of international interest, and will be for many years to come. With an array of different styles of housing – from townhouses to apartments to luxurious mansions stacked on the slopes of Signal Hill – Green Point is definitely the place to be.
And lest we forget, all the factors that make for a buzzing suburb are right there. Shops, restaurants (superb sidewalk) and cafes are certainly not in short supply along the Main Road.
