BRACKENFELL

Brackenfell is a northern suburb of Cape Town, situated between Bellville and the well-known town of Paarl. It is effectively at the gateway to the winelands of the Western Cape, but falls under the jurisdiction of the Greater Cape Town Municipality. Brackenfell comprises a number of small ‘suburbs-within-a-suburb’ as it were, and its property offering ranges from affordable yet comfortable accommodation to the more upmarket, luxury accommodation – all located on the foothills of Cape Town.

Brackenfell would be classified as one of Cape Town’s rapidly growing communities, and with the phenomenal growth in property in this area, it has attracted a large number of younger citizens with children of school going age, from a wide cross section of cultural groups. The suburb boasts excellent town planning infrastructure and is home to a number of good schools and excellent amenities.

In addition to its varied selection of properties, ranging from apartments to cluster homes and townhouses, to large comfortable and luxurious houses, Brackenfell also has a selection of major shopping malls and excellent medical facilities and services. For lovers of sport, Brackenfell is blessed with several outstanding sports facilities.

A major advantage that Brackenfell has is its geographical location. Situated within 40 minutes of the centre of Cape Town, Brackenfell residents are away from the hectic traffic of the inner city, yet are close enough, with easy access, to the many attractions offered by Cape Town. In the other direction, Brackenfell is within quick and easy reach of the country’s major wine growing areas, such as the beautiful towns of Stellenbosch, Wellington, Franschhoek and Paarl.

For those attracted to the beauty of Cape Town, but averse to getting stuck in the hustle and bustle of a major city, and with the constant lure of the mountains and the lush vineyards in the background, using Brackenfell as a home base certainly makes a lot of sense.

Brackenfell was established as early as 1913, and gets its name from the indigenous fern known as ‘Bracken’. It is primarily a residential suburb, with a central business district having developed a substantial amount of commercial and industrial activity over the past decade.

Brackenfell is certainly an area with tremendous potential, and worth more than a little consideration for the property buyer.
