Property in Blaauwberg

Blaauwberg has a history that dates as far back as 1510 when the first trading began between the Koi-koi who inhabited the area and the first European visitors to the Cape’s shores. It wasn’t until just short of 300 years later that the first European, Floris Brand, made Blaauwberg his permanent home. He received his first neighbour and the areas first official landowner, Daniel Brink, a year later.
In 1903 the Cape Argus published an article naming the area that is now Blaauwberg, the finest and best situated estate in the suburbs. More than a century later and it’s not difficult to see why the current residents agree.
Blaauweberg is one of the fastest growing regions in the Western Cape and it’s this development that makes it an incredibly multifaceted area. Its beaches are incredibly popular all year round and its waters play host to a number of sports with kite surfing taking centre stage. While standing on its 48km of white sandy beaches, beachgoers will be faced with remarkable views of Table Mountain across the bay as well as Robin Island ahead of them.
The area consists of both traditional and ultra-modern homes that are in close to a number of amenities. The area of Blaauwberg is also well known for its high rise apartment buildings on the beachfront. These offer sprawling ocean views and are generally fitted with modern finishes.
Aside from the beach and picture postcard views, Blaauwberg is in close to Canal Walk – the largest shopping centre in the Western Cape as well as the popular Ratanga Junction. Golf enthusiasts make use of the Atlantic Beach and Milnerton golf courses while nature lovers can pay a visit to or become volunteers at SANCOB (Southern African foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds).
There are also plenty of primary and secondary schools in the area making this one of the most ideal places for families since 1803. With a multitude of activities and amenities on offer, there is plenty to do and see every day and if you don’t find it in Blaauwbeg, the suburb is only a drive away from major roads to take you on adventures throughout the rest of the Western Cape.
