Ruimsig is situated on the fringes of the West Rand’s Roodekrans, site of the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens. Once an area which was characterized by smallholdings and plenty open space, Ruimsig is now a burgeoning property haven with a mix of homes ranging from cluster and sectional title units to huge, luxurious multimillion-rand mansions.
The existence of the well-known Monash University as well as several upmarket developments have proven to be the catalyst for further growth and this brought about a boost in property development in the mid 1990s, with housing schemes such as Sagewood Lodge and Casciano realizing top prices in the market.
