Brenton On Sea suburb

BRENTON ON SEA

Brenton on Sea is indeed one of the most beautiful holiday villages in South Africa, and particularly along the Garden Route.  Situated a mere 15km from Knysna, Brenton on Sea is nestled on a ridge with spectacular views across the Indian Ocean towards Buffalo Bay.  It is one of this country’s best locations for sunbathing and swimming, and for watching magnificent sunsets.

The majority of homes in Brenton on Sea are holiday homes, guest houses and B&B establishments. There are also several holiday apartments in the Brenton area.  The average erf size in Brenton on Sea is around 1000m², with actual house sizes being between 200 and 600m². With the majority of homes being holiday residences, or future retirement homes, the area is made up predominantly of middle to higher income earners.

With Brenton on Sea being very hilly terrain, the majority of houses, cottages and apartments have excellent sea views, and the 5km long spectacular beach stretches all the way to Buffalo Bay. Brenton on Sea is amid two nature reserves, namely the Featherbed Reserve and the Brenton Blue Butterfly Reserve. Access to Brenton on Sea is via a single road from the N2 highway, and the nearest airport is in George, some 75km southwest of Brenton on Sea.

Property in Brenton on Sea is highly sought after, and the demand for holiday accommodation during the high season makes this paradise a huge must for the discerning real estate investor.  Several early retirees have settled in Brenton on Sea, and the more industrious entrepreneurs among them have established flourishing guest houses and B&Bs.

In order to preserve its unspoilt charm, property owners have resisted the temptation to commercialise Brenton on Sea, and therefore only one small shop/restaurant is to be found in the village.  The influx of visitors during the holiday season seem quite content to leave the bulk of their shopping to periodic visits to either Knysna, or occasionally to George.

Brenton on Sea is served medically by doctors, dentists and pharmacies located in Knysna (the closest), and there is also the Knysna Private Hospital which caters for the bigger medical emergencies.

Educationally, any schoolgoing children living in Brenton on Sea would need to travel to Knysna to attend school, but given the massive holiday and retirement nature of this village, there are not too many locals needing to make use of this facility. Sport in Brenton on Sea is mainly of the aquatic type, with fishing, surfing, diving and swimming being the primary activities. Paragliding is also rather popular here, given the hilly terrain.

Brenton on Sea is thus a holidaymaker’s paradise or a retired person’s retreat. Real estate investors who seek top quality property in a relaxed, tranquil atmosphere, would do well to consider buying property in Brenton on Sea.
