BLOUBERGSTRAND
Bloubergstrand lies on the west coast of Table Bay and forms an integral part of the cluster of suburbs including Bloubergsands, West Beach, Atlantic Beach Golf Estate and Big Bay. A mere 20-minute drive from the Cape Town city centre, Bloubergstrand’s white sandy beach offers a stunning view of the Mother City. It is from here that the perfect postcard pictures of Cape Town with Table Mountain in the background are often taken. The rolling dunes of the Atlantic beach at Bloubergstrand form part of the unique Cape floral kingdom, which is renowned worldwide for its diversity and richness of plant species.
Bloubergstrand in general has developed and expanded tremendously over the past few years, symptomatic of the area which in general is expanding more rapidly than anywhere else (it is worth noting that Parklands, which is a mere two kilometers east of Bloubergstrand, is the fastest-growing area in sub-Saharan Africa).
The coastline of Bloubergstrand offers long, sandy beaches frequented by dog walkers and kite flyers. The large crashing waves, supported by the sometimes strong southeasterly winds of the Western Cape, makes Bloubergstrand one of the fastest and hottest places worldwide for windsurfing. Wave jumpers and colourful hobie cats can be seen dotted against the azure of the sea. Fishing, sailing and boat trips are other popular activities.
Within a stone\'s throw of the beach, a whole host of restaurants and pubs offer excellent dining and socializing. Bloubergstrand has developed a vibey beachfront with some interesting shops, while the nearby Table View and Parklands provide the bigger shopping malls, schools, as well as all other amenities, including cinemas, which can be expected from one of the fastest growing areas in Cape Town.
Bloubergstrand is also a popular holiday destination, and the beaches are frequented by tourists and locals alike. The suburb is known for its natural beauty, youthful atmosphere, and wide variety and choice of property, ranging from studio apartments to beachfront villas and coastal mansions.
