RE/MAX RANKED NUMBER ONE

Leading real estate company, RE/MAX of Southern Africa, was recently voted as the country's top agency by leading online property search portal, PropertyGenie.

In its monthly National Trends Report, online property search portal, PropertyGenie, ranked South Africa's top 10 agencies in order of alerts sent for their listings during the December 2009 period. RE/MAX came in at first place, scoring the most alerts for its featured properties.

Says Adrian Goslett, CEO of RE/MAX of Southern Africa: "We are thrilled to see that RE/MAX was ranked as the top agency in South Africa. This reaffirms what we at RE/MAX believe in - that our unique mix of service excellence, great marketing, in-depth knowledge of local and international property markets and trends, and a business ethos that pivots on always putting our clients' interests first, delivers results that set the benchmark for the industry."

The Property Genie's database includes residential properties listed with all South Africa's leading real estate agencies. Its trends report is compiled using a range of data sources, including listing price information and consumer search behaviour.

Top Agencies

The first-place victory for RE/MAX was especially triumphant, with the agency coming in ahead of the likes of Pam Golding, which came second, and Seeff Properties, which earned third place. Other agencies that made the grade include Durr Estates in fourth place, Jawitz Properties in at number five, Harcourts in sixth place, Lew Geffen Sothebys International at number seven, OnTime Properties at number eight, Rawson Properties in ninth place and at number ten, the Leapfrog Property Group.

Top 10 regional alert earners

Other interesting findings in the report include the top 10 regional areas, which include, listed from first through to tenth, the Cape Metropolis (Western Cape) at number one, followed by the Johannesburg Metropolis (Gauteng), Pretoria (Gauteng), the Durban Metropolis (KwaZulu-Natal), the Overberg (Western Cape), the Garden Route (Western Cape), North Coast (KwaZulu-Natal), the Boland (Western Cape), the East Rand (Gauteng), and in tenth place, the West Coast (Western Cape).

Top 10 hottest suburbs

With regards to the most popular suburbs, Gauteng was outshined, with an impressive eight out the 10 listed areas located in the Western Cape. These areas include, ranked from first place to tenth place, Claremont (Western Cape), Sea Point (Western Cape), Bryanston (Gauteng), Hout Bay (Western Cape), Constantia (Western Cape), Rondebosch (Western Cape), Morningside (Gauteng), Cape Town CBD (Western Cape), Durbanville (Western Cape), and lastly, Greenpoint (Western Cape).

Based on property enquires during December 2009, Property Genie also offered a ranking of the top five towns per province. These include:

  • Eastern Cape: Carlo (Port Elizabeth), Lovemore Heights (Port Elizabeth), Quigney (East London), Lorraine (Port Elizabeth), and North End (Port Elizabeth).

  • Western Cape: Claremont (Southern Suburbs), Sea Point (Atlantic Seaboard), Green Point (Atlantic Seaboard), Cape Town and Oranjezicht (Cape Town).

Goslett notes that the RE/MAX recipe for success comprises two major parts: "The first is that, as a world renowned international estate agency, RE/MAX agents always strive to be at the top of their game and constantly remain abreast of market trends. The second aspect of the company's approach however, is what really sets it aside from its competitors - the ethos of really listening to their clients.

"When you trust someone with your most important investment, you expect them to listen. That's what we do at RE/MAX. Our sales associates take the time to understand their clients' needs, and because they're top professionals, they can deliver and, in many cases, even supersede the results that the client is hoping for. I believe that it is this human element and personal touch that will see us continue to lead the industry," concludes Goslett.
